Orvil Leroy Shepherd

Orvil Leroy Shepherd went to be with his Lord on July 24th, 2010 at his home in Wewoka, Oklahoma at the age of 89. Orvil was born February 12th, 1921 to Royce Herman and Myrtle(Walker) Shepherd of Wetumka, Oklahoma.
Orvil was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1941; served overseas for some time and was discharged from service in 1945. Orvil was a farmer in Allen, OK until 1980 when he met Pauline. They were married on July 31, 1981. He was a member of Mission Home Missionary Baptist Church in Wewoka. Orvil enjoyed gardening as well as just being at home. Going to church and worshiping the Lord was a highlight he always looked forward to. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers and sisters.
Orvil is survived by his wife of 28 years, Pauline Shepherd of the home, stepson Hulon Mosley and wife Sherlan of Wewoka, Granddaughters; Latresa Jolly and Husband Ed of Wewoka; Carla Davis and husband Robert of Wasilla, Alaska; Great Grandchildren; Melissa Sowder and husband Aaron of Cromwell; Brian Jolly of Wewoka; Anthony and wife Jessica Davis of Wasilla, Alaska; and Jessica Marie Davis of Wasilla, Alaska, Brothers Delmar and Jesse Shepherd of Oklahoma City, OK and sister Gladys Young of Moore OK, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends that will always remember and miss him.

Funeral Services are to be held Wednesday July 28, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mission Home Baptist Church North of Wewoka and burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Wewoka, Oklahoma.

Brother Bob Spears and Brother Larry Jones will officiate.

Pall bearers will be Brian Jolly, Judge Sawyer, Larry Sawyer, Jerry Renner, Derek Christopher, Aaron Sowder, and Glen Abel.

Honorary Pall bearers are The Men of the Mission Home Baptist Church and Brother Fred Stewart.
