Sonny Ernest Schultz

Funeral services for Ernest F. "Sonny" Schultz of Union Valley will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 31, 2010 at the Union Valley Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Stonewall, Oklahoma. Officiating will be Rev. Randall Christy. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm Thursday and 8 am to 8 pm Friday with family welcoming friends from 6pm to 8pm Friday evening.

Mr. Schultz died Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at the Valley View Hospital in Ada, OK at the age of 69. He was born May 17, 1941 in Connerville, OK to Pal and Lissie (Sampson) Schultz. He married Carolyn Gipson on January 25, 1969 in Union Valley.

Mr. Schultz attended the Connerville and Pontotoc Schools and graduated from Pontotoc High School in 1960. He served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968. He was worked as a Heavy equipment operator for Stallings Construction for 20 years. He was employed with Pontotoc County and retired after 13 years of service. He was a member of Union Valley Baptist Church for more than 25 years and serving as a deacon for many of those years. He was a longtime resident of the Union Valley Community.

Mr. Schultz is survived by his wife: Carolyn Schultz of the home; one son: Brad Gipson and wife Brandy of Union Valley; one brother: Clarence "Biggin" Schultz of League City, Tx.; two sisters: Nena Turner of Ft. Worth, Tx.; Ellen Gibson of Las Cruses, N.M,; two granddaughters: Brittany and Breann Gipson of Union Valley and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Jimmy Schultz, Emmit Schultz, Leon Schultz, Tom Schultz; Three sisters: Nona Moss, Pauline Gibson, Shirley Morgan.

Honorary Pallbearers: Tommy Schultz, Grant Ellis, Donald James, Leonard Daniel, Chad Sliger, Craig Workman, Casey Workman
