Tommy Chambers was born on November 28, 1928 to Thomas William Chambers and Verna Ophelia Chambers. Tommy died on March 6, 2009 at his home at 700 S. Okfuskee after battling cancer for almost a year.

He married Frances McCoy on December 29, 1955 in Ada, Oklahoma.

He is survived by his wife of the home; 2 sons - John Chambers of Wewoka and Mark Chambers Gravelee of Tulsa, OK; 2 daughters - Sharon Carey of Webbers Falls, OK and Carolyn Chambers of Goodlettsville, TN; 2 brothers, John Chambers of Oklahoma City and Lloyd Robbins of Portland, OR; 1 Sister, Linda Mallard of Oklahoma City. Tommy also had 4 step brothers, Orville, Ward, Ralph, and Leon Robbins; 2 Step sisters, Virginia Robbins and Clara Mae Parks. Tommy has 8 grand-children and 6 great grand-children and a very special nephew and niece, Jack and Sara Nuckols.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a step father, whom helped raise him from a very early age, Clarence A Robbins and a very special Aunt, Lerah Chambers.

Tommy worked in the oilfield business his entire younger life. His hard work and dedication led to his ownership of Trico Drilling Company, located in Seminole, Oklahoma. After raising his children, Tommy began a new career build on a foundation of love for his horses. Along with his wife, Tommy held a very successful career breeding, training, and racing Quarter horses. His winnings include the Oklahoma Futurity twice; the Firebrand Futurity in Texas; the Blue Ribbons Futurity, he was also named Breeder of the Year by the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Association.

Tommy’s character and values became a foundation for not only his success, but an ongoing education for those under his influence. His promise was in his handshake; his truth was in his word; and his love was demonstrated by his actions, not just verbalized from his heart. His integrity was known by all and his unconditional commitment to his family could never be challenged.

A special thanks goes to the Doctors at Shawnee Medical Center, specifically Dr Tony Haddack , the entire Cancer Center staff, and Dr. Randolph Kemp, of Seminole, Oklahoma. However, a most grateful and heart-felt appreciation goes to the team at Caring Connections, including Dana Roulston, Jennifer Marchbanks, Jennie Le, Micha Erwin, and Vicki Newman. Their professional, tender care, patience, and gentle guidance will never be forgotten.

Family and friends will dearly miss Tommy. It should be known, that he attacked every opportunity to battle his cancer with passion. Once the cancer had won, it should also be known that Tommy’s personal, spiritual relationship with the Lord provided a peaceful and graceful acceptance of his destiny.
