Wanda Mae (McNeill) Clark

Wanda Mae Clark was born August 31st, 1928 in Elmore City, Oklahoma and passed away February 23rd, 2010 in Holdenville, Oklahoma. Daughter to Viva Leola (Pyle) and John Alexander McNeill, Wanda was an accomplished basketball player for Elmore City High School where she graduated in 1947. On March 22, 1948, Wanda married Johnie Truman Clark in Gainesville, Texas. The couple made their life and home in Elmore City and Wanda worked as the City Clerk for several years. She also worked as a retail sales clerk and as an assistant actuary at an insurance company. Wanda enjoyed bird watching, flowers, oil painting, and sewing. She was at her best surrounded by her children; she loved to prepare meals and share them with her family. Wanda's parents and her husband, Johnie; a brother, John "Tubby" McNeill; half-brother, Nolan "Mack" McNeill; and a half-sister, Wanice Jay, all preceded her death.
Surviving are her children: Doris Ann Johnston and husband, Allen, of Okemah; Johnie T. Clark, Jr. of Howe, Texas; sisters: Ida Ruth Horn of Norman; Ruby Walker and husband, Don, of Frederick; Ellen Kennedy and husband, LeRay, of Elmore City; brother, Wayne McNeill and wife, Carolyn, of Pauls Valley; six grandchildren: Laura Ann Johnston Monchuk and husband, Clinton; Jay Allen Johnston and wife, Tanna; Roy Dean Johnston; Danita Clark Byer and husband, Jeff; Heather Clark Parker; and Holly Clark Jones and husband, Clint. Wanda leaves numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are to be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 25, 2010 at Hudson Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 301 East Main Street in Holdenville with Jess Wilburn officiating. Wanda's nephews will serve as pallbearers and she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Johnie, at Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Hudson Phillips Funeral Home.
