Fort Worth, TX - Funeral services for Helen Susan (Holland) Barrett, "Nanny" of Fort Worth, TX will be 2:00 pm Saturday, July 18, 2009 at the Stonewall First Baptist Church in Stonewall, OK. Interment will be at Jesse Cemetery near Stonewall, OK. Officiating will be Kendall Martin and assisting will be Kelly Barrett.
Mrs. Barrett died July 16, 2009 at White Settlement Nursing Center in White Settlement, TX at the age of 93. She was born July 28, 1915 in East Jesse, OK to Ed Holland and Rachel Phillips Holland. She married William Curtis Barrett on November 16, 1936 in Jesse, OK. Mr Curtis died on May 21, 1992.
Mrs. Barrett attended Pleasant Hill School in East Jesse, OK while growing up. She was a Christian and was a member of the Stonewall First Baptist Church. While raising eight children, they had lived in various places such as Oklahoma, California, and Texas. She was a homemaker and enjoyed her family, holidays, birthdays, and cooking. She enjoyed having large gatherings and fellowship at her home.
Mrs. Barrett is survived by one son: Jimmie Barrett and his wife Helen of Fort Worth, TX; three daughters: Carol Garza and her husband Ralph, Linda Avelar, and Janeice Dorman and her husband Gary all of Fort Worth, TX; three brothers: Kenneth Holland of Fort Worth, TX and Edwin and Ralph Holland both of Jesse, OK; one sister: Margie Gilstrap of New Waverly, TX; twenty -one grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband: W.C. "Curtis" Barrett; her parents: Ed and Rachel Holland; one daughter: Katherine Barrett; three sons: Jackie, Eddie, and Timmie Barrett; one brother: Melvin Holland; two sisters: Lois Brashears and Louise Barrett; and one grandson: Eddie Barret, Jr.
Pallbearers: Grandsons: Dink Barrett, Steve Farris, Kelly Barrett, Kerry Barrett, Kyle Barrett, Erik Burgess, Lawrence Gallagher, Kirby Barrett, and Timothy Barrett.
