Kenny “Choates” Blaylock passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at Holdenville General Hospital with his family by his bedside. Services for Kenny Blaylock will be 2:00P.M. - Thursday- July 3, 2008 at First Baptist Church in Holdenville. Interment will follow at Crossroads Cemetery in Calvin, Oklahoma, under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home-
Kenny Blaylock was born on January 30, 1960 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Derl and Betty “Butler” Blaylock. As a toddler one of the mischievous things Kenny enjoyed were sitting by the highway throwing rocks at any unfortunate passerby. Through his childhood he loved playing sports and finding any of his friends to help him pick on his little sister Tracy. Kenny graduated from Moss High School in 1978. He continued his education at Rogers State College where he graduated in 1980 with an associate degree in Physical Education. Kenny married Carolyn and son Rath on December 17, 1982 at Banner Baptist Church in Horntown. Onto this marriage one daughter was born, Kendra on May 2, 1990, in Ada, Oklahoma.
Kenny dedicated his last 10 years as a deacon at Banner Baptist Church in Horntown. Kenny was employed by Hughes County District #1 for 17 years. For the past 9 years Kenny worked fro X.A.E. Corp. known now as Canaan Resources of Oklahoma City as a roustabout in the oil field. When Kenny was not working he was doing something outside. Kenny treasured his tractors and hay equipment. When Kenny was younger he loved hauling square bales of hay. Kenny also was an avid sports fan. His favorites were watching Rath play baseball and Kendra play softball. Kenny loved helping Rath and Kendra show pigs. Kenny could not wait until his grandkids could show too. He enjoyed his cat CeCe about as much as he loved his grandkids.
Kenny is preceded in death by his mother Betty “Butler” Blaylock in 2007.
