Marie Amrey Obituary
Marie Hudson Amrey, born June 11, 1923, died December 25, 2008 at the age of 85. Marie was born in Spiro, Oklahoma and after graduation from high school, she moved to Holdenville and attended Higbee’s Business College. In 1940, while attending Higbee’s, she met her husband of 62 years, Jack Amrey and they were married November 21, 1945. Upon graduating from Higbee’s Business College in 1942, Marie immediately went to work for the law firm of Woodford-Ballinger. She remained a legal secretary for Angus Woodford and his family for 63 years until the time of her death. Marie was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and active in many civic organizations. She was very creative and an extremely talented painter.
Marie was predeceased by her husband, Jack Amrey, and three brothers, Leonard, Dick and Ray Hudson. She is survived by five nieces, four nephews and her long-time friend Lynda DeShields. At Marie’s request, private services will be held with interment in Holdenville Cemetery.
