Wewoka Resident James “Jimmy” A. Brooks passed away Thursday, April 15 at the age of 81 in Oklahoma City. Brooks was born Nov. 18, 1928 in Paducah, KY. He came to Wewoka at the age of five where he was raised by his Aunt and Uncle, Lee and Roberta Howard.
As a young adult, Brooks worked in the oil field and later he began raising cattle. He loved the outdoors, always raising a large garden.
He was preceded in death by his parents Reid and Mary Pearl Brooks and sister Charlotte.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Betty L. (Miner) Brooks of the home; daughter Tanna Logan and husband Jeff of Holdenville, daughter Kelly Matteson and husband Chris of Edmond; four grandchildren, Derek, Matthew and Joshua Logan and Peyton Matteson; one great grandchild, Rylee Logan; one sister, Reida Brown of Lewiston, Calif.; sister-in-law June Grimes of Wewoka; a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends that he loved dearly.
A Rosary will be held Sunday, April 18th, 2010 6:00 p.m. at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral Service will be Monday April 19th, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. St. Stephens Catholic Church with Father Basil officiating.
Pall Bearers will be Jeremy Howard, James Howard, John Howard, Kenneth Pattison, Clay Chambers, and Johnny Craig Miner.
Honorary Pall Bearers will be Ianos Chaffin, And James Griffis.
