Jimmy Dean Cofer was born in Holdenville, Oklahoma, on June 16, 1950 to Pete and Dorothy (Chadwick) Cofer. He passed away June 18, 2009 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 59.

Jim graduated from Holdenville High School in 1968 and from East Central University in 1972. He started his teaching career at Bristow Public Schools and was currently an instructor of Computer Technology at Classen School of Advanced Studies in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Pete & Dorothy Cofer; and a nephew and his wife, Scott and Renee (Curlee) Cofer. He is survived by three brothers: Bob Cofer and wife, Wilma, of Okemah; Dave Cofer and wife, Alice, of Holdenville; and Jerry Cofer and wife, Stacy, of New Orleans, Louisiana; one sister, Judy Goodson and husband, Phillip Freeman, of Newalla, OK, and numerous other relatives, friends, colleagues, and students.

Services will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Hudson-Phillips Funeral Chapel, 301 East Main in Holdenville. Pallbearers are Kelly Gordon, Phillip Freeman, Adam McFarland, Deebo Garrett, Clint Garrett, and John Giles. Honorary pallbearers are the Faculty & Students of Classen School of Advanced Studies. Interment will follow the service at Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.
