Graveside services for Wewoka resident Alfred Capps are scheduled for 11;00 AM Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Oakwood Cemetery with Dr. Larry Elwell officiating.
Born May 4, 1919 in Magazine, Arkansas to the late Louis T. and Bessie Victoria (Heathcott) Capps.
Al grew up in Calvin and Wetumka, and went to school in Wetumka. He enter the US Army at the the age of seventeen. During his military he was stationed on the Philippines Island of Corregidor, 1st tour of duty, his second was in Europe.
Al served in Patton's 8th Army, earning the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, as well as numerous other awards and metals.
On June 5, 1943, he married Ella Frances Dority in Las Vegas, NV. They lived in several states Oklahoma, California, Neveda, and Montana, but mostly Oklahoma where he loved to raise quarter horses.
Preceding Al in death are his parents, wife Ella (Feb. 21, 1007) two brothers Corbett Capps, and Don Capps, three sisters Daisy Capps, Greba Oliphant, and Hazel Donaldson.
Survivors include: Sister Nellie Elwell and her husband Larry of Valley Mills, TX, brother David Capps of Holdenville: nieces and nephews Rosie Huff, Kay Guillot, Joe Cunningham, Zach Elwell, Lucas Elwell, Steven Elwell, Daniel Elwell, Donald (Butch Capps). and unofficial adopted daughter and friend Sheila Qualls, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Honorary Pallbearers will be : Ken Killen, Richard Dority, Travis Qualls, Joe Cunningham, Donald Butch Capps, and Judd Dority.
