Obituary for Alma Joyce Bowhuis Harris

Alma “Joyce” (Jones) Bowhuis Harris , 74 became a resident of Heaven on July 13, 2018 in Oklahoma City. Although we are going to miss her loving spirit we know she is rejoicing with our Lord & all those who loved her & went before her.

She was born October 25, 1943 in Holdenville to Cary Monroe Jones and Virginia Adelene (Walls) Jones. She graduated from Great Mills High School in Maryland. She returned to Holdenville in 1965. She married Larry Gene Harris on January 17, 1978 in Holdenville. She worked for Dr. Kerneck for 16 years as a physicians assistant. Afterward, she worked for over six years for Holdenville Public School in the Lunch Program. She was a member of the First Church of God in Holdenville. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She played softball for many years and she was really good. She enjoyed being the coach for her team. Being the loving mom, she was the pack leader for James’ Cub Scout Troop. Mowing her lawn, the churches lawn and anyone who needed it gave her time to be outdoors which she loved. She and Larry enjoyed showing cars and traveling to car shows.

Joyce was a positive, kind, caring & fun woman. She has left her family with priceless gifts of her love and memories they will cherish forever. Her dedication to her family was selfless and given with joy that filled her heart. The memory of her presence will last a lifetime, & the impact that she has made on many friends and family will live on because she has left a rich legacy of love & wisdom.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Marion Jones, Jackie Jones and Earl Jones, step-mother Maxine Jones.

Survivors include her husband Larry Harris, children James Harris and wife Susannah of Horntown, Bernita Bowhuis of Holdenville, grandchildren Billy Price of Holdenville and Reese, Zoe and Knox Harris all of Horntown, siblings Johnny Abraham and wife Deann of Worthen, Texas, Paul Jones and wife Cathy of Sasakwa, Angela Moya and husband Brick of Corsicana, Texas, Vickey Mitchell and husband Paul of Sapulpa, Donna Morrell of Sapulpa, Glenda Emerson of Blackwell, and Linda Davis of Irving, Texas, step-mother Norma Jones of Blackwell, uncle Clifford Jones of Apache, as well as a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service has been scheduled for 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at the Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Holdenville. Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville.
