Obituary for David Joe Piper

David Piper of Oklahoma City passed away on November 3, 2017 in Oklahoma City. He was born on August 1, 1940 in Tulsa. He was raised by his loving parents, Walter William Stewart and Virginia F. (Boyles) Stewart. He was baptized in the Baptist Church as a young child. David graduated from Byng High School where he was an All-Stater in Basketball in 1959. He received a scholarship to play basketball for East Central University. David graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond majoring in Chemistry. He worked for Baroid after college as a salesman. He married Virginia Jane Walker and from that union two sons were born, Clinton and Eric. In 1974, he started Piper Oil and later changed the name to Union Chemical. Dave worked in the oilfield all his life and currently owned Piper Tech with his son, Eric. He married Martha Lovelace on May 11, 1984. Dave and Martha enjoyed traveling together.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Walter and Virginia Stewart, siblings Wayne R. Stewart, Frankie May Stewart, Lorn Edwin Stewart, and Nola Stewart.

Survivors include his wife, Martha of the home, son Clinton Piper and wife Kristin of Frisco, Texas and their daughter Kara, Eric Piper of Oklahoma City and his daughter Emily and granddaughter Paisley, step-son James Tate and his wife Stephany and their children Kaeli and Tyler, nieces Pama Stewart Hencerling and Lorna Rieves, nephew Terry Stewart, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00AM on Monday, November 13, 2017 at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Wheatland, OK with Associate Pastor Charlotte Teel officiating. Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville, Oklahoma. Online condolences to the family can be made at www.phillipsfuneralservice.com.
