Obituary for Debra K Odell


Ms. Odell passed away Friday, March 9, 2018 at her home. She was born on September 10, 1956, in Ada to Olan Ray Henderson and Gloria Sue Stephens-Welch. She graduated from Byng High School in 1974 and attended Hillsdale Freewill Baptist College in Moore, OK.

Ms. Odell was a homemaker, mother, and very talented artist. She was a member of The World Organization of China Painters, Oklahoma Teachers of China Painters, Renaissance China Painters of Ada, and International Porcelain Artist. Several of her prized pieces were published in The China Painter magazine and were also award winners at the state fair. She was involved in various other clubs and organizations throughout her life time, including Ada Stamp Club, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. But most importantly, she was an amazing “MeMe” to her four grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter, Lori Kay Smith, and husband Kevin of Oklahoma City; a son, Jeffrey Odell and wife Carrie of Ada; a granddaughter Kaitlyn Smith; three grandsons, Kaden and Kasey Smith and Grayson Odell; and a brother, JR Henderson and wife Lee of Florence, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her parents Olan Ray Henderson and Gloria Sue Stephens-Welch.
