Obituary for Geneva Battershell

Geneva Battershell passed away on October 21, 2017 in Gerty, Oklahoma. She was born on October 6, 1937 to Ruben Edmond and Katie Lee (Moore) Huffstutlar. She graduated from Gerty High School. She married Clarence Battershell on June 18, 1955 in Ada, Oklahoma. Geneva worked as the Cafeteria Manager for Luther Schools. Having a green thumb, she enjoyed working in her garden and raising plants. Geneva was very active in the community and the Harmony Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her grandchildren and family and being with them.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Sharon Kay Battershell, sisters Marie Ream, Althea Huffstutlar, brothers Fred Huffstutlar, Donald Huffstutlar, sister Anna Lee McKenzie, brother Leon Huffstutlar.

Survivors include her children Eddie Ray Battershell and wife Joy of Chandler, Donna Jean Zamaria and husband Charles of Mustang, and Anna Marie Battershell of Ada, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, sisters Francille Treat and Josephine Powell and brothers Ruben Huffstutlar Jr. and Frank Huffstutlar as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

The funeral service is scheduled for 10:00AM on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at the Richmond Avenue Free Will Baptist Church of Allen. Rev. Buddy Drake will officiate the service. Pallbearers will Nathan Battershell, Skip Powell, Chris Howard, Sheldon Tatum, Neil Hassler, Gary Huffstutlar. Interment will follow at the Gerty Cemetery in Gerty, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville, Oklahoma. Online condolences to the family can be made at www.phillipsfuneralservice.com.
