Obituary for Lee Warren Weatherred

Lee Weatherred was born on November 17, 1930 in Holdenville to Lee and Vernease Bowman Weatherred. He attended Holdenville High School, Oklahoma Baptist University, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from East Central University.
He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Teacher and a Deacon.
Lee married Oda Lee Medders on April 8, 1951. They had no children, but enjoyed the company of 5 pets.
Lee started working in his dad’s store at age 14, and after his stint in the U. S. Army, he returned to the store. In 1969, Lee purchased the store from his dad and joined the True Value Hardware affiliation. He owned and managed The Lee Weatherred Company until its closure in July 1992. He was a member of the Kiwanis Civic Club.
Lee and Oda Lee were avid Oklahoma University Athletic fans and followed football throughout the USA. In 1986, they purchased their first motor coach to make that passion more comfortable. They joined a club called Rollin Okies and those members became their closest friends and travel partners during their 26 travel years. They visited all lower 48 states; Alaska and Hawaii; most of Canada; and the Caribbean Islands.
By 2010, Lee developed degenerating dementia which progressed to Alzheimer’s. He spent his last time in Veterans Center, Norman where he passed away on March 28, 2018.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife; Oda Lee of 66 years, 11 months and 3 weeks of the home in Holdenville. His brothers Tom and wife Patti of Carrollton, Texas, nieces and nephews as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Baptist Church or Oda Lee request that you remember the memories you shared with Lee.
Funeral service is scheduled for 1:30pm on Friday, March 30, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Holdenville. Bro. Rob Lindley will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Gerald Scroggins, Bruce Woods, Steve Huff, Dale Medders, Brady Holt, and Brian Foster. Interment will follow at the Holdenville Cemetery.
