Obituary for Mary Elizabeth Thomas

Mary Elizabeth Thomas passed away December 26th, 2017. By her side were her family members and her loving husband of 67 years; Bob D. Thomas.

Mary was born in Wewoka, Oklahoma on November 27th, 1928 to the late William M. (Bill) and Clara Nicholson.

Mary Graduated from Wewoka High School in 1946 and attended East Central College in Ada. She met her future husband while working at the Key Theatre in 1949. They were wed August 26, 1950. Mary was loved by everyone she met. She inspired so many people in her life by her kindness, positive outlook and her caring nature.

Mary and her husband Bob spent over 50 years on their farm south of Wewoka raising their children, a garden, lots of flowers and a large herd of cattle. In addition to caring for her family and helping her husband in their Wewoka donut shop business Mary worked full time for 20 plus years at the Department of Human Services until retiring in 1990.

Mary loved to take family pictures, and it was usually "mom" that was behind the camera taking snapshots of all the important occasions, holidays and get-togethers over the years.

She was fond of arts and crafts and home projects. Mary canned fruits and vegetables, made quilts for each of her children and entered more than one of her creative projects in the County fair nearly every year.

Most of all she loved her God and her family. Mary was a long time member of the Wewoka Church of Christ and proud of the fact that her Grandfather Ramage was on of the Church's original members.
