Obituary for Robert Groves Howard

Robert Groves "Bobby" Howard Jr., age 77 of Wewoka, departed this life on Monday, November 27th, 2017 in Oklahoma City. He was born March 26th, 1940 in McAlester, OK; the oldest of 10 children to the late Robert Groves Howard Sr. and Margaret Pierce Howard. Robert grew up in Wewoka and graduated in 1958 from Wewoka high school and later attended St Gregorys College in Shawnee, OK. Bobby served in the Oklahoma National Guard.

Bobby married the love of his life Pamela Kaye Carlin in Hobbs, New Mexico on September 22, 1962. They were married 43 years, and raised two sons and one daughter.

He worked in the oilfield industry as a salesman in west Texas and eastern New Mexico.
Who also owned, with wife Pam, Howard Cycle City in Hobbs NM. He was well known and respected for his honesty and integrity with those he did business. Bobby was very involved in youth sports, coaching football, baseball and basketball. Bobby was also a volunteer referee and umpire. He was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church Wewoka. His hobbies were making jewelry, reading history and science fiction books, racing motorcycles, playing the guitar, fishing and his love for his dogs. He enjoyed lunches at the senior citizens and dinners at the country club. Bobby was proud of his Choctaw heritage.

Preceding Bobby in death are his parents, wife Pamela, brothers John Campbell Howard, Pascal Michael Howard; infant sister Mary Margaret Howard, and Mary Jean Howard.

Survivors include sons Robert Groves Howard III and wife Linda of Castle Rock, CO, William Carlin Howard of Greensburg, KS, one daughter Elizabeth Elaine Howard-Deeds and spouse Chancy of Oklahoma City; grandchildren Taylor Armijo, Ashlee Davis, and Tara Gunderson; two great-grandchildren Briar Davis and Lauren Tackett, brothers: Philip Howard and wife Jane of Wewoka, OK, James Howard and wife Tracy of Norman, OK, Lee Howard of OKC: sisters Margaret Ann Snyder and husband David of Edmond, OK, Joan Imes and husband John of OKC, and Barbara Griggs of Yukon, OK and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are James Howard, Philip Howard, Taylor Armijo, Jeremy Howard, James Howard II and John Howard.

Honorary pallbearers are all old friends in the oilfield, in Texas and New Mexico and all of his buds in Oklahoma.

Rosary service will be 6:00 PM Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Funeral mass will be 10:00 AM Friday, December 1, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Seminole, OK with Father Joe Schwarz officiating and burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
