Obituary for Victor Roy Kennemer

On Saturday, June 23, 2018, R. Victor Kennemer III passed away peacefully at his home after a short illness. Vic was born on April 15, 1944 in Charlottesville, Virginia to parents R. Victor Kennemer II and Frances Bailey Kennemer, one of two children.

Vic leaves behind the love of his life, Betty of 36 years, his sister Jan Case, daughters Jerilyn Ross of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, and Jacqueline Greenwood of Fayetteville, Arkansas, step daughter Denise Williams and her husband, Bryan Williams, nephews Justin Case and Chase Case, brother and sister-in-law Joe and Reta Stubblefield and numerous cousins and friends. Vic was from Charlottesville, Virginia and his family later moved to Lindsay, Oklahoma where his father practiced law. His father was active in the Oklahoma Bar Association and was vice-president at the time of his death.

Vic attended Shaddick, a military high school in Minnesota. He later attended the University of Oklahoma and graduated from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 1973.

Kennemer served as a commissioned officer in the US Army.

He served for 10 years as the municipal judge of Wewoka and served as President of the Seminole County Bar Association.

Kennemer was active with the Real Property Section, Mandatory Continuing Legal Education, Title Examination Standards Committee, Task Force to Create a Uniform Residential Sales Contract, Legislative Monitoring Committee, 2003 Finance Commission, and delegate to the OBA annual convention for many years.

Vic had many hobbies, one was playing the piano for his church family and putting together medleys of appropriate songs. He also enjoyed golfing when he was able and made many friends on the golf course. He enjoyed fishing, wood carving, gardening, and having coffee at the drug store with good friends and mowing.

Vic loved people. He loved being able to help people in his practice and in everday life. He liked getting to know people and visiting with them. He was blessed with good neighbors and they continued to be a blessing.

Vic had a great sense of humor telling jokes and funny stories to anyone who would listen.

Vic was full of life and considered everyone a good friend, whether it was his barber, the people at the post office, the checkers at Wal-Mart and his special friends at the courthouse, his clients, new friends, old friends, the people at the OK Bar Association and the many people he met while serving on the Board of Governors for the Oklahoma Bar Association which he and his wife Betty considered an honor to serve. From that experience, lifelong friendship were developed.

He had a great spirit, loved God, his church and life.

We will miss him and are blessed to have known him.

Services are scheduled for Wednesday, June 27th, 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 910 W. Wrangler Blvd Seminole, Oklahoma. Rev. Mark Watson will officiate the service.
