Obituary for William Robert Gibbs

A memorial service for William Robert Gibbs, 68 of Wewoka will be held at the Church of the Latter Day Saints, Seminole, Oklahoma at 2 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2018.
He was a 1969 graduate of Wewoka High School. Following graduation he attended East Central State University in Ada. He also attended Oklahoma State University in Okmulgee where he received a certification in Business and Accounting. He was an avid WHS Sports enthusiast and kept statistics for the Football Games for the Wewoka Times. He enjoyed golfing at the Gil Morgan Golf Course and a past member of the Wewoka Golf Association
Billy was a disabled veteran. He served in the U.S. Air Force, completing his basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas in 1972. Following Basic Training he was stationed at Peterson Field in Colorado Springs, Colorado and then sent to NORAD /Cheynne Mountain Air Force Station until being honorably discharged.
He loved his family dearly, always enjoying the fact they lived close and visited often.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Billy Hicklin Gibbs (retired mathematics teacher at WHS) and Othello Fern Lowery Gibbs.
Survivors include three children, Kimberly Jan Gibbs, Timothy Scott Gibbs and Jennifer Ann Givens, all of Wewoka; nine grandchildren, Laci (and Repheal Miles), Kaci and Bretta Coker, Preston Gibbs, Jocelyn Gibbs, Jodi, Jessica and Juli Givens, all of Wewoka and Karena Atchley, George and Clara Rosado. Five Great Grandchildren, Braden Miles, Kayli Coker, Ashlin Miles, Makiyah Coker and Teagan Griffis all of Wewoka, brother Chuck Gibbs, niece Bonnie Jergans, great-niece Willow Jergans.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Repheal Miles, Marty Stanfill, Terry Coker, Edmond Coker, Braden Miles, Preston Gibbs, George Rasado, Roderick Daniels and Brent Huntley.
Interment will be in the Little Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home
