Doris Lee Jordan, age 90, of Ada, went to be with her Lord on June 9th, 2019 at the Washita Living Center in Pauls Valley, OK.
Doris was born September 27th, 1928 in Laxton, OK to Issac and Ella Benton. She graduated from Fitzhugh High School at the age of 17 and was offered a basketball scholarship to Murray State College. She also worked at the Brockway Glass Co. for three years.
She married Jack W. Jordan on February 13th, 1953 in Ada. Together they had three children; Mark Jordan of Muskogee, OK, Robin Mitchell and husband Chuck of Pauls Valley, OK, and Jackie Czyz and husband Dan of Houston, TX. They also had five grandchildren; Taylor Mitchell, Makelti Mitchell, Shandy Smith, Lynde Anderson, and Kayla James.
Doris was blessed with many talents, which included writing lyrics for many songs. Two of her lyrics were made into records; "Jesus Tried" and "Choctaw, Chickasaw, Cherokee, Seminole, Creek", which topped the record chart in Muskogee as number one for two weeks in 1972. She was also a talented writer of poetry and short stories, in which she had one of her poems published. She loved her position as choreographer and instructor for the line dancing of the Chickasaw Kats, which she held for several years.
Doris was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ada for many years. She will be deeply missed and was loved deeply by her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jack, of the home, parents Issac and Ella Benton, brothers Howard Benton, Benarr Benton, and one sister Marlene Benton. She is survived by her children and grandchildren.
The family appreciates and thanks Alpha Hospice and the Washita Valley Living Center of Pauls Valley for the kindness and excellent care given to our mother by all of the staff.
