Obituary for Hazel Lee Banks

Hazel Lee Banks of Seminole passed away Wednesday, January 2nd, 2019 in Ada, Oklahoma at the age of 75.

Hazel was born October 6th, 1943 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to John Jerry "Jelly" Bruner and China B. Davis. She graduated Wewoka High School in 1962. She married Earnest Parker on July 8th , 1963 and he preceded her in death. Hazel later married Leodis Banks and he also preceded her in death. Hazel is also preceded in death by her parents; John Jerry Bruner and China Davis, siblings; Shermaine Thompson, Billy Graham, Franklin Gray and Teresa Bullock.

Hazel was a very intelligent, quiet and no nonsense person. After completing graduation she entered the workforce and worked for JC Penny in Okc. Hazel also worked for Tyson Foods in Arkansas, worked many years as a Seamstress for Wrangler in Seminole, and finally retired from the Home health care field. She enjoyed working with the youth. She was instrumental in starting a youth choir at St. Paul Baptist Church in Wewoka, where she served as youth choir director. The youth choir quickly became popular and was frequently requested at many Churches. Hazel loved spending time with her children and family. She was a great cook and enjoyed reading and doing cross word puzzles.

Hazel is survived by her children; Reggie and wife Carol Parker of Wewoka, Kevin and wife Cris Parker of Riverside, California and Lasonia Parker of Seminole, grandchildren; Daris Parker and Darrell Parker, Armani Parker, Kaya Parker and Chloe Parker siblings; Oscar Gray of OKC, Betty Alexander of Wewoka, Brenda James of Okc, Gertha Abraham of Okc, Johnny Bruner of Okc, Michael Bruner of Wewoka, Sherry Nichols of Wewoka, Darlene Reed of Dallas, Tx, Mary Wallace of Dallas, Tx and Senobia Drake of Dallas, Tx and beloved nieces and nephews as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday January 9, 2019 at Westwood Cemetery in Wewoka under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
