Obituary for Katie Mae Harjo

Katie Mae Clark Harjo, 82, of Henryetta, OK, passed away on Sunday, October 13th, 2019 in Tulsa, OK. She was born May 2nd, 1937 in Seminole OK, to the late Amos Clark and Selina Micco. At age 5, she was placed in the Eufaula boarding school until the age of 15. In 1958, she graduated from Strother High School. When Katie was 13, she met Christopher Harjo and on January 3rd, 1962 they married. She and Christopher became Christian missionaries in California. They returned to Oklahoma and helped various Native Baptist churches. Sand Creek Baptist in Wetumka, OK, was their mother church.

Katie loved garage sales, thrift stores and spending time with her grand puppies and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, beading, travel and storytelling. A lot of her dolls and jewelry were sold to various clients in the US and Europe. Her favorite dessert was cherry pie made by her niece Rita. One of the most cherished things in her life was being called Oma by her great nieces and now great-great nephews and niece.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, husband, sons, Timothy Clark, Christopher O. Harjo I, Christopher O. Harjo Jr.; brothers, Norman Micco, Jimmy Clark, Andy Clark; sisters, Sally Larney, Serena Larney and Juanita Clark.

Survivors include her daughter, Salina Harjo; Grand puppies, Trixie, Tauriel, and Atticus of the home; nieces, Great Nieces Venissa Harjo Ortiz and husband Adam; their son, Avery of Tulsa, OK, and Mileah Harjo Sanders and husband Chris; their sons, Isaiah, Noah and daughter, Eden of Cleveland, OK, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Family Viewing will be from 4-8pm on Thursday October 17th, 2019 at the Stout-Phillips Funeral Home in Wewoka, OK.
