Obituary for Leon Lonzo Ray

A much-loved Leon Lonzo Ray, 81, of OKC, OK, peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday evening, November 10, 2018, at Skyview Nursing Center in OKC, OK after a long and brave battle with cancer. He was born May 6, 1937 to the late Lonzo Ray and Sylean Davis. Leon was a 1957 graduate of Wewoka High School where he was known for his outstanding skills on the football field. Upon graduating Leon enlisted in the military and proudly served his country. Leon had many interests including spending time with his wife outside or in the garden; fishing especially with his brother Gary and watching football. Leon also loved playing dominoes with family and friends. Most notable is Leon's love for his family. He knew and would always proclaim that he was a blessed man! Leon had a big and bright smile that would light up any room, a contagious laugh that will be missed as well as his many stories that we've all heard a million times but they never got old! Leon leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 24 years, Leona Alice Ray of OKC, OK; one daughter, Rachel Calhoun of OKC, OK; five step-children, Lanita Douglas of MWC, OK; Tanya Trebes of Edmond, OK; Twanna Hillard of Fresno, California; Chessia Hillard of OKC, OK; and Carl Hillard of OKC, OK; two brothers Gary Davis (Donna) of OKC, OK and Future Lee Davis of Denver, CO; a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a special thanks to his cousin Larue Brown for her timeless support. Leon was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Gatha Jo Davis-Dobson, step-daughter Linda Watts and step-son Darryl Hillard Sr.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday November 17, 2018 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Justin Pendarvis officiating and interment to follow at Westwood Cemetery, Wewoka, Oklahoma.

Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka, Oklahoma.
