Obituary for Winfred Jasper Westbrook

Winfred Jasper Westbrook died March 10th, 2019 at the Sulphur Veterans Center in Sulphur, Oklahoma at the age of 88. He was born March 22nd, 1930 in Duke, Oklahoma to Jasper Westbrook and Velma Cole Westbrook. He married Imogene Lacy on November 6th, 1953 in Ada, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents: Jasper and Velma Westbrook; his wife: Imogene Westbrook, and his siblings: Clifford Westbrook and Louise Coffee.

Mr. Westbrook grew up near Olney, Oklahoma and graduated from Olney Public Schools. He was a veteran, having served overseas in the artillery division of the US Army during the Korean War. After returning home, he married Imogene Lacy and moved to Eunice, New Mexico, where they started a family and he spent many years working as a foreman for an oil well roustabout service. After moving his family back to Oklahoma, he worked at Reeves Packing Plant in Ada as a mechanic until retirement. Winfred was a “jack of all trades” and enjoyed doing carpentry work on his house and working in the garage on his cars and lawnmowers. He was a longtime member of the Tupelo church of Christ and spent several years as a caregiver for his wife until her passing.

He is survived by one son: Larry Westbrook of Stonewall, Oklahoma; one daughter: Gloria Bailey and husband Vernon of Tupelo, Oklahoma; two grandchildren: Kyle Bailey of Tupelo, Oklahoma and Melissa Diacon of Ada, Oklahoma; three great-grandchildren: Paige Brady, Eli Diacon and Eden Diacon of Ada, Oklahoma; and two nephews: Harold Coffee and wife Diann of Ada, Oklahoma and Alan Coffee of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Tupelo Church of Christ in Tupelo, Oklahoma with interment following at Pontotoc Cemetery.

A family visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Smith-Phillips Funeral Home in Ada, OK.
