Obituary for Arther E Orsburn

Arther Earl Orsburn passed away on May 1, 2018 in Wewoka, Oklahoma surrounded by family. He was born on March 27, 1933 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Ralph Earl and Dora “Tennie” (Moran) Orsburn. The second of five children, he grew up on Dixie Lease just outside of Wewoka.
He served in the army from May of 1953 until May of 1955.
On April 14, 1965 he married Barbara Williams. They made their home on the farm north of Wewoka raising cattle, sheep, and children. Their love of God and family extended to their service as house parents for the Lion’s Club Boys Ranch in Perkins. They retired and returned to Wewoka where they continued to work together as route managers for the Seminole Producer.
As a preacher, Arther touched many lives, sometimes preaching, always by example. Whether behind a pulpit or beside a Ditch Witch, he would share the word of God with those around him.
He encouraged his children to read and write at an early age and impressed the importance of a good education. Although he initially completed 8th grade at Benedict School his desire to learn wasn’t fully realized until he completed his GED on February 24th, 1996, just before he turned 63.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years Barbara Orsburn, parents Ralph and Tennie Orsburn, grandsons Michael Orsburn and Austin Gore, and son-in-law Bobby Gore.
Survivors include his children, Joe Orsburn and wife Jayme of Wewoka, Brenda Gore of Wewoka, Christie Johnson and husband Chuck of Wewoka, Jeanette Kennedy and husband Rick of Cromwell, Ray Orsburn and wife Wendy of Oklahoma City; grandchildren Matt Orsburn, Heather Orsburn, Delia Orsburn, Molly Orsburn, Lucy Orsburn, Karrie Cloud and husband Josh, Brad Orsburn and wife Jayme, Angie Whisnant, David Kendall Gore and wife Mandy, David Lee Orsburn, Cheri Johnson, Angela Marshall, Randall Kennedy and wife Alexxis, Amy Kennedy, Shelby Orsburn, Denver Orsburn, and Bobby Weston; great-grandchildren Maliah, Halle, AJ, Jaden, Makenzie, Destrie, Abby, Tristan, Cody, Cayden, Deagan, Zane, Aerius, Makayla, Sydney, Savannah, Royal, Izzy, Tristen, and Christen; brothers Henry Ellis and wife Mary Sue, brother Leroy Orsburn, sisters Nancy Care, Lilah and husband James Yahola, sisters-in-law Oleta Newman and Bertha Sanders, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka. Pastor Tommy Azlin will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home in Wewoka.
