Obituary for Kelly D Shields

Kelly D. Shields passed away on August 21, 2018 in Holdenville, at the age of 96. He was born on June 13, 1922 in Holdenville to H. I. shields and Ella (Atkinson) Shields.

Kelly married Ethel Elene (Herd) on April 28th, 1946 and together they had three daughters, two of which, Susan and Carla, were married. The youngest, Jan, lives at home as a caretaker. Susan married Billy Brown; they have a son named Billy Paul, his wife is Cherina they have two sons, Samuel and Ethan, they reside in Wetumka, Oklahoma. Carla married Johnny Hoover; they have a son named Shane, who resides in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His brother Doyle Shields of Montana survives him also.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Ethel Shields, brothers Marvin, Neil, and Carl Shields and sister Hazel Price.

Kelly served our country honorably in the United States Air Force. He served six years overseas during World War II in Europe and was involved in the Battle of the Bulge. Afterward, he returned home to begin his career as a pipefitter. He was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #344 for over 53 years. Kelly was the oldest living member of the Pipefitters Union in the State of Oklahoma.

Graveside service is scheduled for 3:00 PM on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at the Holdenville Cemetery with full Masonic and Military honors. Rev. Dane Robinson will officiate the service assisted by Bill Robinson. Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville.
